In recent years a survey has indicated that on a popular holiday weekend there can be as many as 800 boats on the Loch at any one time. The pattern and usage of Loch Lomond has been changing over the past few years. It has been recognized in most recent years that there are less cruisers moored in "the narrows" and more dayboats and jetbikes. As dayboaters tend to camp or barbeque on the islands and beaches this has also led to an increase in pressure on the enviroment such as rubish being left on the islands.

On busy days some of the slipways may close for short time or have long waiting lines of cars and boats waiting to slip.
